Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare’s Offering to Non-Aramco Patients Endorsed by National Regulator

Council of Health Insurance classifies Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare as an “advanced” organization after hospital scores 93% in its first assessment since opening its doors to the public.

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare’s offering to non-Aramco patients has received a significant endorsement from the national private health insurance regulator.

The Council of Health Insurance (CHI) has classified Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare as an “advanced” healthcare provider after awarding the hospital a 93% score in its first ever assessment by the regulator.

The CHI, which oversees the Saudi health insurance sector and accredits private healthcare organizations, rigorously assessed Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare’s performance against nearly 200 benchmarks.

The 93% score and advanced rating from the CHI are notable because Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare only recently opened its doors to privately insured and self-pay patients from outside the Saudi Aramco community.

“It’s far beyond our expectation to score 93% and receive an ‘advanced’ classification in our first attempt at obtaining a CHI accreditation,” Ahmad Sayed, Senior Business Improvement Analyst at Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, said. “This is testament to the hard work and dedication of every team that contributed to the CHI assessment.”

Earlier this year, Newsweek ranked Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare as the third-best hospital, and the second-best private hospital, in Saudi Arabia.

The CHI Providers Accreditation and Classification Program comprises 44 standards and 180 sub-standards spanning governmental requirements, operational excellence, healthcare information management, and approvals and revenue cycle management. Inspectors from the CHI examine hospital performance against a range of key performance indicators, such as the time it takes to assess, diagnose, treat, and discharge patients.

After a rigorous assessment by the CHI, healthcare providers are assigned one of five ratings: market-leader, outstanding, advanced, improving, or learning. About three in 10 private hospitals hold a CHI rating of “outstanding” or higher, and around two in ten hold the “advanced” rating.
